Ingredients
Scale
- 36 Oreo cookies
- 8 ounces cream cheese, softened
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1/4 cup milk chocolate chips
- 1/4 cup white chocolate chips
- 1 tablespoon vegetable shortening
- Sprinkles, for decorating (optional)
Instructions
- Step 1: Finely crush the Oreo cookies in a food processor or place them in a ziplock bag and crush with a rolling pin.
- Step 2: In a large bowl, mix the crushed Oreo cookies, softened cream cheese, and vanilla extract until well combined.
- Step 3: Roll the mixture into 1-inch balls and place them on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper. Freeze for at least 30 minutes.
- Step 4: In separate microwave-safe bowls, melt the milk chocolate chips and white chocolate chips with 1/2 tablespoon of vegetable shortening each, in 30-second intervals, stirring until smooth.
- Step 5: Dip each frozen Oreo ball into the melted chocolate, using a fork or dipping tools to coat completely. Place back on the parchment paper.
- Step 6: Immediately sprinkle with sprinkles, if desired, before the chocolate sets. Let the chocolate harden completely before serving or storing.
Notes
- Store Oreo Balls in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to a week to keep them firm and fresh.
- If your chocolate coating isn't perfectly smooth, stir in an extra drop or two of vegetable shortening for a glossy finish.
- For a fun presentation, arrange Oreo Balls on a tiered dessert stand or serve them with small skewers for easy dipping.
- For a slightly softer texture, let the frozen Oreo Balls sit at room temperature for about 5-10 minutes before dipping them in the melted chocolate.
