Ingredients
- All-purpose flour: 3 cups
- Granulated sugar: 1/2 cup
- Baking powder: 4 teaspoons
- Salt: 1/2 teaspoon
- Milk: 1 1/4 cups
- Eggs: 2 large
- Melted butter: 1/4 cup
- Vegetable oil: for frying
Instructions
- Step 1: In a large bowl, whisk together the flour, sugar, baking powder, and salt.
- Step 2: In a separate bowl, whisk together the milk, eggs, and melted butter.
- Step 3: Add the wet ingredients to the dry ingredients and stir until just combined. Do not overmix.
- Step 4: Heat vegetable oil in a large pot or deep fryer to 350°F (175°C).
- Step 5: Drop spoonfuls of dough into the hot oil, being careful not to overcrowd the pot. Fry for 2-3 minutes per side, or until golden brown.
- Step 6: Remove the donut bread with a slotted spoon and place on a wire rack to cool slightly. Toss in cinnamon sugar while still warm.
Notes
- Store leftover donut bread in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 2 days, but they're best enjoyed fresh!
- For a warm and gooey treat, pop a few pieces in the microwave for 10-15 seconds.
- Serve these donut bread bites with a scoop of vanilla ice cream or a drizzle of chocolate sauce for an extra decadent dessert.
- Don't overmix the batter; a few lumps are okay, as this will ensure a tender and airy donut bread.
