Delicious cheesy stuffed italian meatloaf – a comfort food classic with a gourmet twist recipe with detailed instructions and nutritional information.

  • Total Time: 35 minutes
  • Yield: 4 servings

Ingredients

  • Ground Beef: 2 pounds
  • Italian Sausage (removed from casings): 1 pound
  • Italian Bread Crumbs: 1 cup
  • Parmesan Cheese (grated): 1/2 cup
  • Eggs: 2 large
  • Marinara Sauce: 1 (24 ounce) jar
  • Mozzarella Cheese (shredded): 8 ounces
  • Onion (finely chopped): 1 medium

Instructions

  1. Step 1: Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). In a large bowl, combine ground beef, Italian sausage, bread crumbs, Parmesan cheese, eggs, and half of the chopped onion. Mix thoroughly with your hands until well combined.
  2. Step 2: On a large baking sheet, flatten the meat mixture into a large rectangle approximately 1 inch thick. Leave a border around the edges.
  3. Step 3: Spread half of the marinara sauce evenly over the meat rectangle. Sprinkle the mozzarella cheese and remaining chopped onion over the sauce.
  4. Step 4: Carefully roll the meatloaf up, starting from one end, like a jelly roll. Pinch the seams to seal them and form a loaf shape.
  5. Step 5: Transfer the meatloaf to a greased baking dish. Spread the remaining marinara sauce over the top of the meatloaf.
  6. Step 6: Bake in the preheated oven for 60-75 minutes, or until the internal temperature reaches 160°F (71°C). Let rest for 10 minutes before slicing and serving.

Notes

  • Store leftover meatloaf tightly wrapped in the refrigerator for up to 3 days.
  • For best results, reheat sliced meatloaf gently in the oven with a little extra marinara sauce to keep it moist.
  • Serve this meatloaf with a side of roasted vegetables or a simple green salad for a complete and satisfying meal.
  • Chef's tip: Don't overmix the meat mixture, as this can result in a tough meatloaf; mix just until the ingredients are combined.
