Ingredients
Scale
- 1 box (15.25 ounces) chocolate fudge brownie mix
- 1 cup water
- 1/3 cup vegetable oil
- 2 large eggs
- 8 ounces cream cheese, softened
- 1/2 cup powdered sugar
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1 cup semisweet chocolate chips
Instructions
- Step 1: Prepare the brownie batter according to the box instructions, using the water, oil, and eggs. Pour the batter into a greased 9×13 inch baking pan.
- Step 2: Bake the brownies according to the box instructions. Let them cool completely in the pan.
- Step 3: While the brownies are cooling, prepare the cream cheese frosting. Beat the softened cream cheese with the powdered sugar and vanilla extract until smooth and creamy.
- Step 4: Once the brownies are completely cool, spread the cream cheese frosting evenly over the top.
- Step 5: Sprinkle the semisweet chocolate chips evenly over the frosting.
- Step 6: Refrigerate the cake for at least 2 hours before cutting and serving to allow the flavors to meld and the frosting to set.
Notes
- Store leftover Brownie Refrigerator Cake tightly covered in the refrigerator for up to 3 days for optimal freshness.
- For a warm, gooey center, microwave individual slices for 15-20 seconds, or until heated through.
- Serve this decadent dessert with a scoop of vanilla ice cream or a dollop of whipped cream for an extra touch of indulgence.
- To prevent the frosting from becoming too soft, ensure your cream cheese is thoroughly chilled before mixing and avoid over-mixing the frosting.
